>>The innovations aim to solve real life problems and safety issues
Students and faculty members of UPES, a Dehradun based premier University, showcased their technological innovations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Investors Summit 2018, held at Dehradun from October 7th – October 8th, 2018.
The projects that were showcased at the summit were, RescOp (Rescue Operation Nodes) for Post disaster management in Uttarakhand, Para Drone, Transportation- Sleep detector, Rash Driving Monitoring System, Intelligent Patrolling System for Security Agencies and Wild Life. RescOp is designed to establish a communication link between rescue teams and trapped people post-disaster; Para drone is suitable for air-filming with any standard camera, Sleep detector devise detects the driver’s attention span and alert in case of reduced attention level. Rash Driving Monitoring System helps in alerting the authorities if the vehicle crosses the set limits of speeding, zigzag driving, sudden acceleration and de-acceleration, stunt driving, etc by sending an alarm, hence helping in avoiding road accidents. Intelligent Patrolling System for Security Agencies and Wild Life, provides an algorithm for the guards to follow and increase the chance of spotting the problem.
UPES has undertaken several unique initiatives with an aim to transform students into employable, agile professionals who are ready to take future jobs. These initiatives include:
- Industry-academic collaborations: Most of the programs offered by UPES are co-designed, co-certified and co-delivered by leading organizations from various industries. UPES has such academic partnerships with IBM, Cisco, L&T, Aditya Birla, Philips Carbon Black, Xebia, Bombay Stock Exchange Institute, Infosys and many more.
- Personality Enhancement and Professional Assessment: UPES has created several tools to facilitate holistic development and multi-dimensional growth of students throughout their tenure at the campus. The campus also has an incubation centre to help students come up with innovative ideas and hone their entrepreneurial skills.
- Faculty Internship: A four to six weeks of learning process in a business environment provides opportunities for the faculty to correlate theory with practical application, in turn making teaching relevant to the industry and augmenting the realism of the classroom course.
