540 units of blood collected through camp organized by Enviro

Blood donation camp for Thalassemia patients organised by Vatika EnviroA total of 540 units of blood was collected for Thalassemia patients through a blood donation drive held by Enviro – the facilities management wing of Vatika Group organized and National Thalassemia Welfare Society. The drive was conducted at various Vatika commercial complexes in Gurugram. Commenced in the second week of June, the drive was successfully concluded on 27th June 2018.

“Though I had heard about Thalassaemia , was not aware of it. Thanks to Enviro’s effort,I know what this is. I am to get married by end of this year, I shall get myself and my wife to be, be tested for Thalassaemia. I feel good about donating blood, this is my 3rd Time,” said Nischal Chabbra. Bird Group.

“Thalassmia is a hereditary disorder of abnormal hemoglobin production. Simply means mild to severe Anemia. There are 2 types Alpha & Beta. Till a few years back world had 280 Million patients, India has the highest number in the world. We, try to educate people about  Thalassaemia, As people are not aware and do not undertake tests before marriage. We, undertake such donation camps to educate and help eradicate this menace,” said Neerja from National Thalassemia Welfare Society.

The blood donation camp was organized at various locations including Vatika Triangle, Vatika Atrium, Vatika Business Park, Vatika Tower and Juice, water, and snacks were distributed to each of the donors.

Thalassemia is a genetic disorder inherited from a person’s parents, it’s a blood disorder characterized by abnormal hemoglobin production. Its treatment requires regular blood transfusion which is expensive.  As of 2013, 280 million people suffer from Thalassemia worldwide and 439,000 having the serious disease. The camp was organized to shed a light on this issue and to educate people about its severity.

“It has been a great turnout and we have witnessed enthusiastic participation from employees at all Vatika commercial buildings. Thalassaemia is complicated and a serious issue and requires people everywhere to be aware of it. Enviro organised this campaign to contribute to the cause by making the blood available to the one’s in need and disseminating knowledge of it amongst people,” said Deepak Uppal, Executive Director, Enviro – Vatika Hotels Pvt Ltd.
