Engineering candidates planning to appear in the exam can definitely expect both major and minor changes. Let’s have a look at the details
Since, the formation of NTA or the National Test Agency speculations are doing rounds whether the Joint Entrance Examination of the upcoming year will be conducted by the agency or not. Considering the fact that Union Cabinet has given a green signal to the setting up of NTA long time back, JEE Main 2019 can be administered by NTA. Engineering candidates planning to appear in the exam can definitely expect both major and minor changes. Let’s have a look at the details.
NTA: The New Testing Agency
Later in 2017, the Union Cabinet approved the formation of NTA, an agency that would administer and conduct national level entrance examinations conducted by educational bodies like CBSE, AICTE, etc. Thus, it would primarily relieve these education bodies of their exam administrating work.
The agency would commence its work by taking over entrance examinations that are currently under the ambit of CBSE and in due course of time will undertake other entrance examinations too. The agency has been allocated a budget of Rs. 25 crore by the Government to begin operation in the first year of trial. Later, the agency is expected to become self-reliant.
JEE 2019: The Confirmed Changes
NTA JEE Main comprises numerous changes both major and minor, with an unconfirmed status. However, few changes have been confirmed on the official website of MHRD. JEE Main 2019, if conducted by NTA will be completely in online mode only with the agency taking complete charge of the exam. The second major change is that the examination will be conducted two times in a year which will be a relief for candidates since they can choose the exam as per the
The industry experts also claim that JEE Main 2019 will have slight changes in the exam format too. More concept based questions may be introduced and short answer type questions with slight changes in the syllabus too.
Although, these are just predictions and it can be that everything remains same for the candidates. Until any final announcement is made candidates must prepare following the old pattern and syllabus. The decision, if taken will be well in time in order to avoid any sort of chaos or pressure to students at the last moment.
Expected Benefits of Having NTA
Having NTA as the conducting body for certain national level examinations will help prove beneficial to the students in various ways. Students can hope to have access to standardized test format and will curb time to time allegations the educational bodies face on uneven distribution of difficulty level in various slots of an examination.
Secondly, the agency is expected to cater to 40 lakh students who appear in various entrances like JEE, NEET and UGC NET every year. In 2018, over 11 Lakh students had registered for online and offline JEE Main exam. This would ease out the task for CBSE.
NTA will also provide that standardization of exam at each level of exam. The entrance exams will be conducted in online mode only contributing to level standardization.
JEE 2019 or 2020
The situation is yet not clear as to whether JEE 2019 will be conducted by NTA or will see further delay in implementation of decision. The answer can only be given by the Ministry of Human Resource Department (MHRD) in time. The Ministry looks forward to the smooth functioning of education-related areas and set processes within deadline. But for now, a clear decision is not yet out thereby arising curiosity among test takers.
In the opinion of industry experts, JEE Main 2019 being conducted by NTA has a high possibility. The reason being the government’s inclination towards set process in motion for NTA and now that we have a separate body, its role shouldn’t be delayed further. Also, with grants and financial aid in hand, NTA has high chances to carry out JEE Main 2019.
The second and most important reason why NTA JEE Main 2019 is expected is CBSE conveying the long-time need to have a separate body for conducting JEE Main itself. Furthermore, the Central Board of Secondary Education also shares the concerns of carrying out so many entrance exams in a year. NTA is the need of the hour.
