Bonding Over Barbecues : Redefining Parent-Teacher Engagement
>>While parents and students enjoyed the musical experience they tried their hand at a family style barbecue
Canadian International school hosted Chromatix for their annual barbecue bringing a new twist to engagement with families. The Family BBQ started off with a bang, with students, parents, and teachers experiencing a host of performances. While experiencing eclectic music to the likes of John Lenon to David Guetta, the performers were Canadian International School’s very own teachers!
While parents and students enjoyed the musical experience they tried their hand at a family style barbecue. Mr. Shane Kells, Head of School, CIS, put his chef hat on and it was under his supervision that everyone practiced their culinary skills. The ethos behind doing such a barbecue is that such events redefine how schools engage with their students and parents in a personable and interactive manner, forging stronger bonds between them. In addition the platform is inspiring for students. The highlight of the CIS Concert BBQ was the show stopping performance by Chromatix. The concert was held at the Odeum, an auditorium specially built for the acoustics of musical performances. All money raised from the concert will be donated to a school for underprivileged kids.
