JNU got award for quality research, not for Afzal Guru slogans: Prakash Javadekar
Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar said that JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) won top university award for ‘quality work and research’ activities, and not for the slogans supporting Afzal Guru.

The President of India, Pranab Mukherjee presented the Visitor’s Award for the ‘Best University’ to Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, on March 6, 2017.
JNU has been adjudged the best university for its unrelenting pursuit of academic excellence. It has shown outstanding performance in all key parameters like quality of students and faculty, training of faculty, citations, publications, research projects, foreign collaborations, seminars and innovation exhibitions. He urged the University to continue the good work.
The award news became a hot topic for debates amid controversies regarding anti-national slogans on the campus.
