‘Budget gives much-needed impetus to education sector’

Monica“The budget for financial year 2017-18 has given much needed impetus to education and Skill development sectors,” says Monica Malhotra Kandhari, Managing Director, MBD Group.

We welcome budget proposals that aim to impart right skill sets to the country’s youth and simultaneously, generate ample job opportunities for them.

The announcement to launch SWAYAM platform and leverage information technology so that students can virtually attend courses taught by the best faculty, access high quality reading resources, participate in discussion forums, take tests and earn academic grades are some of the key steps to make quality education accessible for masses-she adds.

Other key announcements like establishing 100 India International Skill Centres, allocating Rs 4,000 crore to launch Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion programme (SANKALP) for training of 3.5 crore youth, creation of an innovation fund for secondary education, and establishing National Testing Agency to conduct all entrance examinations for higher education institutions, will make environment more conducive for higher studies and make the youth job ready- Monica Malhotra Kandhari says.
